Have a Merry Mid West Xmas!

Like a sneaky festive ninja, Christmas has well and truly snuck up on us this year! We hope you've all had a fantastic 2012, and are glad we've been able to help so many of you replace your old equipment, get additional kitchen kit in at short notice, make your catering equipment budgets stretch further, and generally make your kitchens more awesome!

2012 has been a rather special year for us, with an unprecedented amount of stock becoming available for sale, including both once-used and ex-hire equipment. A number of items have already sold out, so our top tip for the new year is to grab the equipment fast, as it doesn't get restocked once it's sold!

Our catering equipment elves will be taking a well-deserved break over the Christmas period, so we'll be closing on Friday 21st December and reopening on Wednesday 2nd January.

From all of us here at Mid West, we'd like to wish you a fab Christmas and a happy, successful New Year.

We wish you a Mid West Christmas
We wish you a Mid West Christmas
We wish you a Mid West Christmas and a happy New Year!
Equipment we bring
To you and your kitchen
We wish you a Mid West Christmas and a happy New Year!

December Discount!

Ho ho ho! In case you haven't spotted it on the website or Twitter (in which case, where have you been???), we're currently offering a special 10% discount on all equipment purchased before 21st December 2012!

We have oh-so-helpfully added the reduced special offer prices to the website in red, so you don't have to get in a pickle with a calculator - we really are kindness personified!

You've still got a whole week to take advantage of the offer, so get cracking!

We also thought you'd probably like to see some of the festive decorations happening up in Head Office (quite frankly, who wouldn't?!), so here's a few piccies for your viewing pleasure!

Mo long, farewell...

Today is the last day of Movember 2012, so we really hope you've enjoyed reading our Mid West Movember blog posts! We've put a poll up in the blog sidebar so you can vote for your favourite character - opinion is divided here in the office!

For our grand finale, we thought you might like to see our real-life staff team who inspired the posts.

As you can see, we take equal opportunities very seriously here...

The "MSstaches" are very generous though, so we let the boys join in too to stop them MOaning...

Amazingly, the team remained MOtivated until the very end... MO-one saw that coming!

Here's a few of our faves...

And if you'd like to see the two of us who have been behind all this Movember madness, it's your lucky day - meet me (weaver of tall tales), and Andy (moustache Photoshopper extraordinaire).

So that's it, Movember is officially over. To donate to the team, please visit their webpage here and give them all your money.

Roll on Xmas! Mo Ho Ho...

Movember - Tom the Freezer

Sadly the time has come to reveal our last item of catering equipment taking part in Movember. Our final folically-endowed friend is the largest member of our Mid West Movember team, Tom the Freezer.

Inspired by his namesake Tom Selleck's illustrious mo, Tom the Freezer has produced possibly the most magnificent moustache of all our equipment, accessorised beautifully by his finely flared nostrils and delicately raised eyebrow.

Unfortunately though, a rather ungentlemanly spat has broken out within the Mid West Movember team, between Tom the Freezer and Harry the Bratt Pan. When Tom the Freezer saw Harry the Bratt Pan's somewhat Selleck-esque effort, he decided to try and freeze him out of the team. We tried to explain that he doesn't have the monopoly on Selleck-style 'taches, but sadly Tom the Freezer became rather cold with us.

John the Slicer tried to slice through the icy atmosphere, but alas, to no avail. Even Edward the Hot Cupboard's effort to thaw the frosty mood was rebuffed. Gary the Dishwasher decided - probably quite sensibly  - to wash his hands of the whole situation, while Charlie the Chargrill and Carl the Soup Kettle tried in vain to maintain the formerly warm and friendly atmosphere in the team.

It's very sad to see things end this way, but perhaps it was inevitable, given all the testosterone-fuelled happenings of Movember. It's tragic that our equipment has taken it so seriously that they've ended up falling-out, but perhaps it just shows their unwavering dedication to the cause. If you'd like to help make sure that this sad situation hasn't been in vain, please donate to Movember here. Don't forget to visit the Movember Gallery on our website too.

We are hopeful that after tomorrow's big shave, harmony will be restored in the Mid West warehouse, and that all will be forgotten. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed.

Movember - Edward the Hot Cupboard

New to our Movember team this week is Edward the Hot Cupboard. He's been merrily nurturing his 'tache all month and is very excited to finally be able to show it off!

Edward the Hot Cupboard is a naturally warm-hearted soul, so he didn't hesitate to sign up for Movember to help raise some money for charity. He's always keen to get involved in charity challanges, and his previous sponsored persuits have apparently included marathons, climbing mountains and trekking across deserts. Well, that's what he says, and we've no reason to doubt him...

Luckily, Edward is an upright mobile hot cupboard, so moving around from place to place has never posed any difficulty for him. With 16 shelves inside, transporting nice hot food with him has never been a problem on any of his expeditions either.

With all this physical excercise, Edward the Hot Cupboard obviously has to make sure he warms up fully before each activity. It's therefore partiularly fortuitous that he just so happens to be able to warm up very quickly and retain his heat, thanks to his excellent insulation.

If you'd like to support Edward the Hot Cupboard in his Movember challenge, as well as the efforts of his comrades Charlie the Chargrill, Harry the Bratt Pan, John the Slicer, Carl the Soup Kettle and Gary the Dishwasher, visit their webpage here to donate. You can also visit our Movember Gallery to see photos of all the Mid West Movember team so far.

Movember - Gary the Dishwasher

Launching himself into the fray this week is Gary the Dishwasher. As an undercounter dishwasher used at a major sporting event, he's got a pretty serious competitive streak, so Movember has presented him with the perfect opportunity to show everyone what he's made of.

Gary the Dishwasher was more than a little surprised when he discovered that his burgeoning 'tache was a rather startling shade of ginger. This has been a rather common theme among our staff Movember team too. Even colleagues with the most average brown hair have found themselves the proud owner of a distinctly ginger mo.

While some have gone down the route of total denial, Gary the Dishwasher has wholeheartedly embraced his fluorescent facial follicles and is delighted at how the orange hue complements his shiny stainless steel exterior.

Capable of washing 500 plates per hour, Gary the Dishwasher is a busy guy. It is therefore quite admirable that he has still found time to cultivate such an impressive mo. It has even been compared to the legendary 'tache of none other than Axl Rose. Take me down to the paradise city, where the mos are ginge and beards are pretty...

Please support Charlie the Chargrill, Harry the Bratt Pan, John the Slicer, Carl the Soup Kettle and Gary the Dishwasher, by visiting our staff team's webpage and donating here. Don't forget to visit the Movember Gallery over on our website too!

Movember - Carl the Soup Kettle

When Carl the Soup Kettle was told about Movember, he didn't need to be asked twice. As a bit of a rocker, he'd fancied some rock-star facial hair for ages, but could never think of a good enough excuse to grow any.

As well as rocking out, Carl the Soup Kettle's other passion in life is swimming. "Why would any self-respecting soup kettle take up swimming?" I hear you ask. The answer is simple. He misunderstood the concept of crowd-surfing and didn't live close to a beach.

Once his 'tache had really begun to grow, Carl the Soup Kettle decided it would be 'totally awesome' to bleach it, for the ultimate rock 'n' roll facial hair. Unfortunately his love of swimming was to be his downfall, and his mo turned a bit green from the chlorine.

As well as warming soup, gravy, custard and an array of other sauces, Carl the Soup Kettle has also been known to fill himself with mulled wine and cider to help 'get the party started'. Thanks to his rock star status, Carl the Soup Kettle also has a number of devoted fans, known as his 'soupies'.

If you've enjoyed the moustache-growing efforts of Charlie the Chargrill, Harry the Bratt Pan, John the Slicer and Carl the Soup Kettle, show your support for Movember by visiting our staff team's webpage and donating here. Make sure to visit our Movember Gallery too!

Rock on.

Movember - John the Slicer

We are delighted to introduce John the Slicer - the newest member of our Mid West Movember team. He joins Charlie the Chargrill and Harry the Bratt Pan, who have already taken on the challenge.

John the Slicer enjoys slicing fine French cheese and deli products, so naturally he chose to go for a French-style moustache. A rather suave and debonair chap, John the Slicer is also highly experienced in slicing a variety of meats and breads. He takes great pride in his work and likes to boast about his fancy manual and automatic settings, as well as showing off the speed in which he can slice foods into precise portions.

All this snooty behaviour has made him quite unpopular amongst the other equipment items, who find him to be rather obsessed with efficiency and accuracy and not so keen on making casual conversation.

John the Slicer is hoping that by participating in Movember, he can show the other equipment that he's just "one of the guys" and no more outstanding than any of the other items. He's still convinced that his moustache is the best though.

If you'd like to support John the Slicer and our staff team on their Movember mission, visit their team webpage here to make a donation.

Don't forget to pop over to the website and visit our Movember Gallery to see pictures of all our equipment taking part in Movember!

Movember - Harry the Bratt Pan

Spurred on by Charlie the Chargrill's efforts, Harry the Bratt Pan is the latest item of Mid West equipment to embrace Movember in support of our office team of Mo Bros.

With his professional expertise lying in boiling, frying, braising, poaching and stewing, we are not surprised that this multi-talented piece of equipment has so successfully turned his hand to the fine art of "moustachery".

Sporting a Tom Selleck-inspired number, Harry is a bratt pan who is clearly not afraid of a challenge. We really do think he's done himself proud with this magnificant display of moustache-growing prowess, and deserves your wholehearted support.

If you'd like to support Harry and our staff team, visit their team webpage here to donate.

Movember madness begins!

A huge team of our staff are taking part in Movember this year, growing moustaches throughout November to raise awareness and money for men's health charities. To show solidarity, a number of our items of catering equipment will be sporting moustaches for Movember too. Stay tuned here on the blog and on Twitter throughout the month to see them all! We'll also be putting a Movember Gallery up on the website soon.

Charlie the Chargrill was the first item of equipment to stand up and be counted. Keen to show off his rather impressive 'tache-growing skills, he has launched himself wholeheartedly into the spirit of Movember.

Charlie is a heavy duty chargrill, and has a heavy duty 'tache to match. In between cooking up delicious burgers, chops, and steaks, Charlie the Chargrill carefully grooms his moustache and spends a great deal of time cultivating it into the perfect bushy specimen you see before you.

If, like Charlie the Chargrill, you'd like to join us in supporting our Movember team, you can visit their team webpage and make a donation here.

Hubble, bubble, toil and trouble!

OK, so it's not quite a cauldron, but this 250lt boiling pan is entering into the Halloween 'spirit' here at Mid West Towers.

Perfect for boiling up substantial quantities of potion, this is an absolute must-have item for any busy witch. With fast heat-up and evenly distributed heating, this boiling pan is much more reliable than your average fire-heated cauldron, and is far less likely to result in those pesky burnt bits of frog at the bottom. The boiling pan is gentle enough to cook even the most delicate eye of newt to perfection, and the lockable casters mean that it can easily be wheeled from cave to cave with the minimum of fuss.

The boiling pan is made from hygienic stainless steel, enabling fine ingredients such as warts and toenails to be kept in a clean cooking environment so as not to contaminate them with any unwanted germs. Additionally, the large tap at the front of the boiling pan enables the easy transferral of potion into bottles, negating the need for cumbersome ladles.

To see more items of second-hand catering equipment which may be of use to the discerning witch, please feel free to visit our website or give us a call on 0845 266 8848 to arrange an appointment to view items at our cave.

Some Poetry (oh dear!)

I decided it shouldn't be a crime
To write a whole blog post in rhyme.
It can't be that hard
To emulate The Bard,
But this seems to be taking some time...

Here are some items of kit,
That may be the most perfect fit
For your kitchen at work
And now here's the perk:
They're BARGAINS (oh I'm such a wit!).

Check out our website,
I'm not a liar -
Just £400

We like to name kit
After famous celebs,
But I fear that this next one is scraping the dregs,
For we have bestowed the name "Tina Turner"
To none other than this, a lovely six burner.

 How about this,
It's a real looker,
A bargain price too -
This fab pasta cooker!

Big News!

Hello all - sorry we've been quiet for a couple of months! Hopefully all will be forgiven when you hear about what we've been up to..! Over the next few months, we will be getting in hundreds (yes, you heard me right!) of additional items of equipment into stock. Some will be standard refurbished equipment, and some - drumroll please - will be nearly-new items, bought new in 2012 and only used at one event! Exciting times and fantastic bargains are to be had, so stay tuned. If you'd like to be the first to see the lists of expected items, pop over to our website and sign up to our newsletter.

Items have already started arriving at our lovely new warehouse, so here's a quick overview of a couple of our latest additions...

This is one of those really versatile items of equipment that all kitchens need. Poaching, braising, roasting, baking - you name it, this combi can do it. Well, it probably draws the line at tap dancing, but I bet it would give it a good shot if you asked!

Bought new in 2012, these sought-after fridges have only been used at one event and are pretty sparkly if I do say so myself. We've got 4 in stock at the moment, with more expected over the next couple of months, so no fighting please. If you're after an almost-new fridge at a bargain price, then this is clearly the item for you.

If these ones are bit over your budget and you don't mind a slightly older fridge, then you'll be pleased to know that we've also got several refurbished upright fridges in stock too.

Check out the website for all our current stock - items are being added as soon as the info reaches us, so keep an eye out on the website, blog and Twitter for regular updates!
